Spent a few hours in the bar before going to dinner. The restaurant was closed Sunday evening so we ate at Table 8, an on-site Indian. The food at Table 8 was fantastic…great taste and plenty of it. The George has been beautifully and tastefully restored and is very complimentary to its 500 year old (??) heritage.
The bedroom was very comfortable, beautifully decorated but with modern facilities. I’m happy to recommend The George. Although I didn’t eat in the hotel’s restaurant, I had planned to as it has been recommended to me. So I guess I’ll be going back on a weekday!

Our Story
The George is situated in the village of Wedmore which has a rich and fantastic history.
Wedmore stands on high ground overlooking the Somerset Levels with outstanding views of the Mendip Hills to the east.
The village is centrally located for visiting Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Street, Wells and the Quantocks.
